Having read 40 books last year, I was feeling somewhat pleased with myself. I hadn’t entirely wasted the year watching re-runs and bad movies. But, alas, I had only a few days of self-satisfaction.
In an article published in the Wall Street Journal, Karl Rove wrote of his friendly reading competition with George W. Bush. Apparently, while he lost to Rove’s very respectable 64 books for the year, it turns out W. racked up 40. And, no, the Pet Goat wasn’t on the list. In fact, Dubya’s list included some reasonably impressive historical works.
A mere tie with Bush, left me feeling somewhat defeated. Yet, I have to ask, “Shouldn’t the President be doing something other than reading 40 books?”
