Tech Shop Durham

I just completed an evening class on soldering at Durham’s Tech Shop. The Tech Shop is a unique membership funded workshop for anyone who wants to get hands-on experience with sophisticated manufacturing tools.

I’ve been itching to build my own guitar effects pedals for a while, so I wanted to find some classes to get my feet wet with electronics.   The Tech Shop has a lot of great resources, including classes and equipment to share, including lathes, welding equipment, laser etching machines, and industrial textile sewing machines.  If you want to make a prototype of an invention, or just learn more about these cool tools, it is a phenomenal resource.  I know I’ll be taking more classes there soon.
